Lockhart Electric Utility is a municipally owned and operated retail electric distribution system since 1939. The Lower Colorado River Authority sells wholesale power to the City of Lockhart. The Electric Utility serves 5,000 customers in Lockhart, including residential, commercial, institutional and industrial customers.
The Electrical Utility is operated as a City department, with policies and electric rates established by the City Council with the advice and recommendations of the Lockhart Electric Utility Board.
The Electric Department is also responsible for Christmas decorations throughout the city.
