Mandatory Outside Watering Restrictions

The peak water used by Lockhart residents and businesses increases during the month of May, therefore mandatory outside water restrictions become effective under the Water Conservation Plan or Drought Contingency Plan.

Outside watering can only take place between 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. on the following days as designated by customer type as listed below:

  • Commercial, Multi-family (four-plex units and above) Tuesday and/or Friday
  • Residential Odd-numbered addresses (last # in address) Wednesday and/or Saturday
  • Residential Even-numbered addresses (last # in address) Thursday and/or Sunday
  • Outside watering can only be done with sprinklers and/or automatic irrigation systems of any type between 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. on the above scheduled days.
  • Outside watering with an attended hand held hose or bucket at any time and on any day is allowed.
  • Washing of sidewalks, driveways, parking areas or other paved surfaces is prohibited except to alleviate an immediate health or safety hazard.
  • Restriction variances can only be considered after receipt of reasons in writing addressed to the City Manager or designee and shall not be considered solely on the basis of convenience of the customer.
The City of Lockhart has sufficient water sources, but conservation is essential to ensure these resources will be there for years to come.
