Construction Standards and Contractor License Information

Note to Residents, Contractors & Developers
If your property is located within the Lockhart city limits, it is subject to City codes and ordinances. If the property is within the City's extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ), the property is subject to subdivision and signage regulations.

If you are developing a new subdivision or building a new facility, the construction standards below will be useful to assist in providing much information to answer questions about infrastructure and to view the City of Lockhart's Construction Standards regulations. Each contractor will also be required to obtain a contractor's license from the city.

NOTE:  The Construction Standards document is currently being revised.  It will be posted on-line when it is updated.

Contractor Registration
All contractors and subcontractors (building, electric, plumbing, mechanical) must register with the City prior to being eligible to obtain permits. To register, contractors must submit an application and required materials to the Development Services Department. Those materials include a copy of the driver's license, a copy of their professional license (for plumbing, electrical, and mechanical contractors), a copy of their liability insurance with the City of Lockhart named as a certificate holder, and payment of the license as indicated in the contractor packet as attached below. Registration will expire with license expiration. City of Lockhart General Contractor's license expire on December 31st of each year.
